FBC indi Episode 28 — Stay tuned for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing

After dodging the raindrops on Saturday, the Fast Nine for Pole Day was set. We look at who succeeded and who underperformed, and what the Honda engine failures during Sunday’s and Monday’s practice sessions mean for Race Day. Monday’s practice session was all about race setup, and although we hesitate to read too much into the times, Honda still seems to lead the charge. In spite of the strength of the Ed Carpenter Racing team’s qualifying performance, are we looking at a Honda-dominated race this Sunday? Lastly, we have Carburetion Day coming up and while that means final practice for the big cars, it also means the Indy Lights drivers will contest the Freedom 100. We make our picks and prognostications for both races coming up this weekend.

Force India launch partnership with charity Breast Cancer Care

Published by Christine Blachford

The Force India squad have announced a multi-year partnership with Breast Cancer Care, with the goal of “reaching more people affected by breast cancer faster.” The charity’s logo is the pink ribbon, which goes nicely with Force India’s rebranded pink image this season, and the cars will proudly bear the logo in Monaco this weekend.

In fact, Channel 4 presenter and Breast Cancer Care ambassador Lee McKenzie was tasked with applying the sticker to the car in the Monaco pit lane, as the news was revealed. She initially tweeted about the pressure of the situation, saying: “How tricky can it be to apply a sticker, straight, no bubbles, the right way up. Sorry in advance!” But later confirmed that it all went well.

Meanwhile, Andy Harris, a director at the charity says: “Force India are committed to help achieve our ambition of doubling the number of men and women we support by 2020. We want to make sure everyone affected by this life-threatening disease gets the care and support they need.”

May 24, 2017 Why Raikkonen Will Never Race The Indy 500

Why Raikkonen Will Never Race The Indy 500

As Motorsport’s most-awaited weekend nears, Mithila and Kunal had to make a tough choice while deciding what to speak about first – the 2017 Monaco Grand Prix or the Indianapolis 500? We can’t possibly wonder how Fernando Alonso made up his mind! And damn the Indy 500 traditions for not being Raikkonen-friendly.

In this week’s episode, we discuss the long and short of wheelbases, Jenson Button’s return to Formula 1, Carlos Sainz Jr.’s most-certain departure from Toro See More Rosso for 2018 (and how he should NEVER take career advice from a certain Fernando), Pastor Maldonado’s misconception, Hamilton’s love for Indian food and how we hope and pray for a combined racing weekend of MotoGP and Formula 1 action at the same venue. Now, wouldn’t that be most epic?

Tune in!

167: e165 – Red Bull and Renault are at it again | The NR F1 Podcast

It was supposed to be a different story. Red Bull had a watch engine, after all. Tick. Tock.

Instead, the Milton Keynes lot are finding a growing gap to bridge and a Renault engine that isn’t improving quickly enough.

At least Renault’s works team at Enstone is developing long nicely. Now where would be the friction in that?!

Edition 165 of The NR F1 Podcast sees the crew deal with all the latest F1 news including Fernando Alonso taking on Indy 500 qualifying and all those desperate F1 teams asking Liberty Media to save them from themselves. Apparently.

This edition is the first of 3 in 3 days ahead of the iconic Monaco Grand Prix. And if you prefer a bit of hindsight with your Formula 1, then take in the pod’s Spain review: https://audioboom.com/posts/5922014
