The 5 live F1 team look back at the Monaco Grand Prix which was won by Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel.

Hello and welcome to Front End Chatter episode 57, which is really episode 69, powered by the mighty online juggernaut of two-wheeled infotainment that is Bike Social (that’s www.bikesocial.co.uk).
This time round Martin and Simon chatter in their front-endy style about:
- Nicky Hayden: the man, the talent, the achievements, the infectious passion, the generosity, the tears at Estoril, the tears at Valencia, the incredible strength of character, the smile.
- MotoGP from Le Mans, where General Zarco was propelled by patriotism, Lorenzo was stumped by strine, a small fall by Rossi led to a big fall in his championship standing, and Simon got in a huff and turned his telly off before the end of the race and went to spend some time in his log cabin that Danny Kent still hasn’t turned up to finish yet.
- The red-bike, red-flag, red-fireball fest that was World Superbikes from Imola.
- John McGuinness’s crash at the North West 200, what might have caused it, and whether it might have anything to do with the slightly peculiar throttle response on the 2017 road-going Fireblade.
- By popular demand (no, really), an excessively comprehensive review of the most promising (if hardly imaginatively named) electric road bikes yet.

Kimi Räikkönen takes Monaco pole, his first since 2008

Ferrari always seemed to have the upper hand during qualifying in Monaco, easily making it through the first few sessions. It was no surprise to see the Sauber pair, as well as Palmer and Stroll all dropping out in Q1, but it was a shame for the patched up, Ocon, who also missed out on Q2.
The big surprise came during the second session when Lewis Hamilton, who was struggling for pace, failed to get through. He was improving when Vandoorne crashed into the barrier, and brought out yellow flags.
It was the 1st time this year both McLarens have been in Q3, although both have penalties to take. Meanwhile out front, Räikkönen set the benchmark, with Vettel joining him on the front row. Bottas settled for third, with the two Red Bulls rounding out the top five.

BikeLive #14 – Advantage, Vinales
Despite the somber mood, we here at Bike Live felt that we just HAD to have a show on the ridiculous MotoGP weekend at Le Mans!
Andre Harrison and Louis Suddaby break it all down as Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi went to war for the win, the Doctor dropped his scalpel. Johann Zarco with another stunning result on home soil, as well as another dominant win for Frankie Morbidelli in Moto2, and Moto3, with one of the biggest crashes ever, Joan Mir dominates again, Danny Kent returned to a lukewarm result, and much, much more analysis!

F1 Debrief – Insanity personified in a circle

Following the feedback we received after our last show, we have attempted to rectify the situation by getting the experts in to talk all about the Indy 500. If you’ve never seen any IndyCar racing before, like at least one half of the Sidepodcast pair, then pay attention as Pat and Lukeh guide us all through what to expect over the next couple of days.
From Fernando Alonso’s motivation to his performance so far, we cover the triple crown of motorsport, the accident suffered by Sébastien Bourdais, the teammates lining up to help out of F1 star, as well as Alexander Rossi’s about face with regards to his attitude towards his new favourite sport.
There’s also time to discuss what happens when it rains at Indy, the big bold pre-race spectacle and of course, make a couple of predictions. Our resident experts also promise to come back and debrief the race with us once it’s all over and done with.
