December 31, 2022 Episode #413: The 2022 Autosport Top 50 Reaction

Episode #413: The 2022 Autosport Top 50 Reaction

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year from everyone at Motorsport101!

To close out 2022, it’s another one of our yearly traditions as we sit down with Autosport’s Top 50 countdown of their best pound-for-pound drivers in 2022! And as usual, Dre is going in blind as he doesn’t know ANYTHING about the list!

And to make things even cooler, for Christmas, we brought back Ryan Erik King to join us in Cam’s slot to help us run down the list! It was a real fun time and another feature-length special. Will Dre have a heart-attack this time? Will he be mad at the hipster IndyCar driver picks? Or Kevin Magnussen making the Top 50?! All that and more in another Motorsport101!

(We’ll be back in a week or so’s time to breakdown… Formula E’s Gen3 debut season. Ooft.)

December 24, 2022 Episode #412: The 2022 Motorsport101 Awards Show

Episode #412: The 2022 Motorsport101 Awards Show

It’s the most, wonderful time of the year. The time were we all gather round in a circle and get our (Golden) cocks out.

I kid, but it is award season again! The 7th Motorsport101 Awards is here for 2022, and it is a bit of a down year for Motorsport in general to be honest. But we still made the best of it and gave some awards to celebrate the best, and worst of the sport this year!

From renaming a beloved award to “The Golden Melon” for Ross Chastain’s Martinsville heroics, to IndyCar’s marketing department getting a participation trophy for just… being there.

Does Ferrari or Zak Brown win the infamous Golden Cock for services in harming Motorsport? And who wins a surprisingly hotly contested rider of the year award? All that and so much more broken down in a 100 minute special edition of Motorsport101!

PS: Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays from all of us here on the show, we got one more show to go before we wrap up 2022, so check back next week. I hear a certain Top 50 just got released…

December 23, 2022 Ep.221 – Brad Sweet

Ep.221 – Brad Sweet

Brad Sweet’s legend in the dirt world is only growing by the year, having just won his fourth straight World of Outlaws title. Growing up on the dirt tracks of California, Brad is a true racer’s racer, earning opportunities purely off of his talent and being paid exclusively in prize money, ultimately leading to his current reputation as arguably the best winged sprint car driver of the modern era. Beyond his current success, Brad also enjoyed spells in different NASCAR ranks, and is now co-found of SLC Promotions with his brother-in-law Kyle Larson, where they promote multiple race tracks and events, as well as the upcoming High Limit Sprint Car Series, beginning in 2023. Lunch was served at Brad’s home in Placerville, CA, with the song “Daddy’s Daughter” by The Ghosts of Liberty taking us out. Thanks again to Continental Tire and Acura for making it all happen.

F1 team of the year 2022 with Allan McNish, Chris Medland and Lawrence Barretto

Red Bull won the F1 Constructors’ Championship and powered Max Verstappen to the drivers’ title too. But was it the best Formula 1 team in 2022?

Our season review podcast shows why that question isn’t as foolish as it sounds, as Le Mans champion and former Toyota grand prix driver Allan McNish joins Chris Medland and F1 presenter Lawrence Barretto to discuss the strongest teams of the season.

Joining Red Bull on our shortlist is Mercedes, which put in a Herculean effort to recover and win after a poor start to the season; Ferrari, which had the pace to beat Red Bull in several races; and Alpine, which consistently racked up the points.

Hear what our expert panel has to say and then make your choice in the Motor Sport Season Review Awards. Vote by December 22 and be in with a chance of winning £2,000 Goodwood season tickets.
