Smoke on the Waterfront

Coming at you like a missile from the sky or Nicholas Latifi into a barrier, it’s the Saudi Arabian GP podcast! Cheeka, Phill and Terry contrast the shitshow of calamity and nastiness that surrounded the weekend with the race itself, which was actually rather entertaining. Also we talk about balls for money.

Episode #348: 2022 Formula 1 Bahrain Report

No really, Ferrari might be back. Sound the alarms! Alter the villagers! What the fuc-

Here’s Episode 348, or as admin Dre calls it – The one race between disasters for F1! We have the Bahrain GP, and to everyone’s surprise, Ferrari’s pace is real! Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen engage in an old rivarly, right before both Bulls give up the ghost in the final stint in what was a drama filled opener. We ponder if this could be our 2022 Title Fight!

We also talk Mercedes – Hamilton never looked more relieved… to finish 3rd, with teammate George Russell 4th. But with the Silver Arrows visibly off the pace and the customer teams being the last SIX cars over the line, just how much trouble are they in?

We also point out the vibe checks for the midfield, as Kevin Magnussen shocked the world with a 5th on his GP Return, Bottas in 6th, and Zhou Guanyu scoring points on his debut in 10th. Someone pour one out for McLaren mind you.

And finally, some closing words on Abu Dhabi 2021 as the FIA released its report into their investigation on that incident. What did we make of it all?

All that and more on F1’s return, on Motorsport101!

March 24, 2022 Episode #347: 2022 IndyCar Texas Report

Episode #347: 2022 IndyCar Texas Report

Welcome back to Texas and IndyCar’s second race of 2022 as we hit up Texas for the Xpel 375 and it was very much a tale of two races! So much so we got a special guest along too – In Cam’s chair, is Chris DeHarde, IndyCar co-editor for Frontstretch and writer for Motorsport Magazine and the Indianapolis Star!

We talk the race itself and its difficult spot on the calendar due to struggling ratings and racing as the PJ1 cement continued to play a hand in the race. Mind you, this one was better and we got an excellent fight for the win in the second half between Scott McLaughlin and Josef Newgarden, with the latter stealing it on the 248th and final lap!

We talk the title fight between Penske and Ganassi after all 7 cars finished in the Top 7, and to our surprise, we saw Jimmie Johnson shock the field with a 6th place finish!

We also talk Devlin DeFrancesco who had some teething problems as a rookie with three separate cautions he was responsible for, including a huge 3-car wreck involving him, Graham Rahal and Helio Castroneves!

All that and more in our IndyCar Texas Report!

March 21, 2022 Red, Red, Whine

Red, Red, Whine

The 2022 F1 season is go go go! And it was quite boring for a lot of the time, but then the Bahrain Grand Prix sprang into life just as the Red Bull engines died. Cheeka, Phill and Terry are TOGETHER, in person for one night only to discuss the new rules, the new even-whinier Max Verstappen and the apparently now-dominant Ferraris. Enjoy!
