The 2018 BTCC season roared into life at Brands Hatch with three different winners, and a history-making race two, in changeable conditions, that presented us with three drivers on the podium who had never been there before, so on Autoglym Tin Top Tuesday, we in turn were presented with a gift of a first show! It’s amazing how the BTCC season marches on…after Rockingham, just tow more meetings before we know the 2017 champion. So the best thing is to spend a Tuesday evening nattering to the people involved, and talk to a former champion and Alfa Romeo champion at that. Alan Hyde chats to new BTCC race winner James Cole, Alfa Romeo driver to be Rob Austin, Alfa Romeo of note that was, Gabriele Tarquini, MG hot shot Josh Cook, and Audi driver and long standing friend of show, Ollie Jackson.
We’re pumped for two weeks of back-to-back TTTs! Snetterton and Knockhill reviewed and previewed respectively, including third in the 2017 BTCC Rob Collard, Shredded Wheat Racing with Duo new driver and Knockhill inhabitant Rory Butcher, debut driver at Snetterton Brett Smith, BTCC Gold driver Alain Menu, up and coming super fast muso Mike Epps, and returnee Stewart Lines. All cobbled together with the vocal cement of Alan Hyde.
A few weeks after the halfway point of the 2017 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship Season was reached at Croft Circuit, Matt James and Alan Hyde catch up with what was a very unusual weekend in the north east. A one in a million accident in qualifying resulted in three drivers remaining in hospital, and TTT catches up with the recovery of all three, and talks to the chief medic and chief scrutineer. Dr Paul Trafford, Luke Davenport, Aron Smith, Peter Riches, Anthony Reid, Oly Collins and Chris Smiley all drop in for what becomes the feel good show of the season, with recoveries progressing very well.
