     The Sundaes – Silverstone Summer

You said I should be prepared
Not to worry
Reassured me, don’t be scared
So I hurried
But we are going to an open place
Where the wind can freeze your nose
         Right off your face.

The rain, the wind, the sleet
Getting trench foot in both feet
The rain, the wind the snow
It must be summer here, here (here)……in Silverstone.

A heatwave, cold front, deep depression
All four seasons in just one qualifying session
Sunburned one minute then chilled to the bone
At a race throughout the world that’s known
The British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

The rain, the wind, the sleet
Getting trench foot in both feet
The rain, the wind the snow
It must be summer here, here (here)……in Silverstone.

Testing at Silverstone can be testing,
Woolly hat, long johns
Tuck your vest in.
There’s a story I’ve been told
That Finnish drivers turn it down
Because it’s more than 5 degrees too cold.

The rain, the wind, the sleet
Getting trench foot in both feet
The rain, the wind the snow
It must be summer here……… here, here, here (here)……in Silverstone.

FBC indi Episode 37 – Mazda Road to Indy passes Gateway test with flying colors

Tonight, we catch up with the Mazda Road to Indy!  The Pro Mazda and Indy Lights series held a test at the newly repaved Gateway Motorsports Park, and we were there to see if the junior formula cars were as suitable to the track as the IndyCars were the previous week.  While there, we reconnected with Pro Mazda racer, TJ Fischer, and INDYCAR’s Mazda Road to Indy point man, Jason Penix.  With two more race weekends , remaining for Pro Mazda and Indy Lights, and only one for USF2000, we look at how things are shaping up and who is likely to win the scholarships to graduate up to the next rung in the Mazda Road to Indy ladder.

During the brief summer break in the schedule, the Internet Rumor Mill is running at full song, and we look at the prospect of McLaren making a full-season effort for the 2019 IndyCar season, we examine the chances of Alonso returning to IndyCar in 2018 and in what capacity, and it’s never too early to start the silly season speculations.  Tony Kanaan may be the key asset that determines the direction for many others.

BikeLive #25 – The Brain Of Brno

BikeLive’s silver edition sees Louis and Dre look back on the Czech Republic Grand Prix at Brno as Marc Marquez outsmarted his MotoGP rivals in a flag-to-flag race…again!

We talk all about the tactical blunders which cost Yamaha and Ducati so dearly as well as the perfectly timed red flag which may have saved Thomas Luthi’s Moto2 championship challenge and another Joan Mir Moto3 masterclass.

If that’s not all, we also break down the Thruxton BSB weekend which didn’t go anything like we had expected. Enjoy!

August 10, 2017 Front End Chatter #62

Front End Chatter #62

Hello everybody and welcome to Front End Chatter, the semi-regular spoken word salad that refuses to stray into nostalgia (other than to remember when nostalgia was better than it is today). Episode #62 continues to be supported by the wondrous website known as Bike Social (that’s www.bikesocial.co.uk) where you should definitely go to check out all the latest motorcycling news and reviews. And get an insurance quote. Go on.

In this 90-minute natter extravaganza, Simon and Martin discuss:

  • MotoGP from Brno, which was either brilliant or boring, where the winner won by a move of either sheer genius or random fortune
  • Is it time to wave the chequered flag on flag-to-flag races?
  • Guy Martin’s future plans, and whether he’s quitting, retiring, or quitting retiring?
  • The new ‘global partnership’ between Triumph and Bajaj – and how many badges can you bodge on a Bajaj?
  • Is the London scooter crime spree creating a potential new marketing opportunity?
  • The most expensive zeroes and ones in motorcycling

Plus all of your emails covering everything from a little-known but much-loved Australian bike-gang film, recalling recalls and more GS stanchion shenanigans, the exceptional machines of Honda’s golden period, overlooked V-twins, bargain sports-tourers, the value of ABS, a reason to speed, the blame game, and the best bikes we’ve crashed.

Thank you very much once again for listening. If you’d like to chatter back, email us on anything@frontendchatter.com or find us on the Twitters – he is @SimonHbikes and he is @Mufga

And if you’re going to fire up your interwebsitebrowser, don’t forget to point it towards www.bikesocial.co.uk !
