Episode #280: Don’t Stop Mir Now

Next up on the weekend of Champions, Joan Mir and the penultimate race in MotoGP’s season, as while Franky Morbidelli and Jack Miller beat the crap out of each other, Joan Mir played it safe and made history as the sport’s first-ever, ONE-win Champion. We spoke at length about the history made as Suzuki won the riders and teams championships, their first major honours in 20 years, in the 100th anniversary of their existence.

We also talk about Yamaha’s struggles, and a shocking finale to a Moto2 race as Fabio Diggia throws away his first Moto2 win on the final lap, and Champion-Elect Sam Lowes had a title-defining crash.

Episode #279: Seventh Heaven

The furious rewind flashback saga continues with a look back at the Turkish Grand Prix, where Lewis Hamilton recovered from a very slippery Istanbul, rain affected GP, to smash the field, and more importantly, capture his 7th straight World Title, and matching Sebastian Vettel for his 4th title in a row. We also had a dramatic race behind as Sergio Perez got back on the podium, Lance Stroll had his first pole position, and Sebastian Vettel had his drive of the season for 3rd!

An epic race, remembered, on Motorsport101!

FF1S.20.17 Sex Education – Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix finished off the season with a tedious whimper, and nobody even cared that Max Verstappen finally won on merit. Cheeka, Phill and Terry start discussing the boredom at Yas Marina, but then degenerate into writing erotic fan fiction about the drivers. Because that’s all the race, and indeed 2020 as a whole, deserves.

FF1S.20.16 Unbreakable Sergio Perez – Sakhir Grand Prix

George Russell came, he saw, he conquered but then he got a puncture and saw his puny dreams smashed. Meanwhile, Sergio Perez won his first race in 190 attempts and now everything thinks he’s great. Cheeka, Phill and Terry forensically analyse the Sakhir Grand Prix and wonder what the point of Valtteri Bottas is. Also there’s a special guest pundit. Wooo.

Ep.172 – Brickyard Empire, Pt. 2 (John Pappas)

Recovering from a global pandemic, living in a world at odds with itself and in the throws of economic collapse, we’re of course talking about the 1930’s, right? In looking to our past to help us understand the future, our search for a hero came back with, well, something more on-brand for us. Welcome to the story of Mike Boyle, the “business man” who started an Indianapolis 500 dynasty.  Recorded specifically for our Amazon Prime series, here are the less-edited versions of the same stories, closing with John Pappas who is one of the partners in the Boyle Racing Headquarters Foundation. Closeout song is “I’ll Change My ways” by Danny Stewart, and lunch served at Dawson’s on Main in Indianapolis, Indiana. Thanks to Continental Tire, Valvoline and Acura for making this happen.
