Episode #158: The Icemen, Cometh

Another race weekend, another punch in the gut for Dre. Ouch.

This was a weekend for the Finns as Dre, Ryan and RJ review a hectic Italian GP weekend, as Kimi Raikkonen clocked the fastest lap ever seen in F1… But then was unable to deal with the great wall of Valtteri Bottas as Lewis Hamilton picked him off for a sucker punch victory. Sebastian makes another Lap 1 error, but also came back to 4th as Max Verstappen made another driving error that led to a penalty.

Also, a Haas was disqualified, and the team looks kinda bush league.

We also review Formula 2 as Tadasuke Makino pulled off an exceptional win in the feature race from 14th on the grid, and George Russell and Lando Norris finally threw down, with Russell coming back to win the sprint race!

This is the first of a double header! Part 2 is out tomorrow as we review IndyCar in Portland and break down all the news!

16: e229 – Ferrari do it to themselves, again | The NR F1 Podcast

A cracking, old school race to show Formula 1 at its best – and Ferrari probably wish it had been so different…

The 2018 Italian Grand Prix weekend was not only as enjoyable as they come – it could prove prophetic as the season rest of the season unravels; and that may be a literal term for Ferrari, given they handed even more of the title initiative to Mercedes at the prancing horse’s home race.

Edition 229 of The NR F1 Podcast sees Michael Bailey joined by Kyle Cumbers, Richard Baxter and Norfolk’s own Italian, Alessandro Esa Fumagalli (Alex to us) to discuss all the events at Monza, as well as plenty more besides – and there’s plenty of it.

From Sebastian Vettel’s spin to Max Verstappen’s tantrum, timing issues, Valtteri Bottas’ race-winning drive (for real), the latest news from McLaren and exactly why Haas raced with an illegal floor – it’s all here covered by the pod, alongside their Of The Weekend Awards plus thoughts and predictions for Singapore.

And if you want to hear more from where this came from, just scoot over to http://www.patreon.com/nrf1 for all the details.

Front End Chatter #79

Hello and welcome to Never mind all that usual bobbins, we’ve got an actual interview with actual Marc Márquez!

In episode 79 of Britain’s best biking podcast – supported, sustained and stimulated by Bike Social (that’s www.bikesocial.co.uk) as well Bennetts, the record-breaking, crash-saving, championship-leading prodigy of the bike insurance grid:

  • Fallout from the washout at Silverstone. What happened (or, rather, what didn’t), why it happened, how it happened, who’s to blame, who’s not, who thinks they should have raced, who decided to cancel, who thinks they shouldn’t have cancelled, is anyone going to accept responsibility, and can we cover all this without getting threatened with legal action?
  • You can’t stop the rock – but you can stop all motorsports activity at Rockingham. Britain’s newest race circuit is about to become Britain’s newest former race circuit – we explain why it’s shutting, when it’s all over, whether we’ll miss it, and what it’s going to become instead.
  • And the main event: a solid gold interview with Marc Márquez himself, live and in person (and courtesy of Shoei), talking his place in history, his regrets, his outrageous riding technique, his future, whether winning or having fun is more important, saving the front, the best rider of all time, his favourite rider, and how many crash helmets he gets through each year given all his trips to the tarmac.

We hope you enjoy it – and please email us your questions, comments, feedback and more on anything@frontendchatter.com
