FBC indi Episode 21 — Long Beach Grand Prix Preview

Tonight, we take a look at the artist illustration of the 2018 Indycar aero kit, which has emerged in recent days, and look ahead to this weekend’s upcoming Long Beach Grand Prix.

We also take a look at the Mazda Road to Indy Races that opened the 2017 seasons for the USF2000, Pro Mazda, and Indy Lights Championships. All three series offered great racing and the USF2000 series debuted it’s new USF17 Tatus chassis. Drivers and fans were not disappointed. Also, the Indy Lights cars experimented with Push2Pass, and we analyze whether it really had that big of an affect on the racing.

For the first time since 2013, Mercedes are not leading the Championship after round one. It’s advantage Ferrari, and although we are only one race into the season, Ferrari’s win in Melbourne hints at a closer title fight this season.

Jennie Gow, Jack Nicholls and Tom Clarkson look ahead to the second stop on the F1 calendar in Shanghai, China. You can hear from the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Antonio Giovinazzi and Championship leader, Sebastian Vettel.

April 5, 2017 Pascal Wehrlein to sit out second race in China

Pascal Wehrlein to sit out second race in China

Published by Christine Blachford

Wehrlein is still getting back up to speed after his Race of Champions accident in December last year, and is set to sit out the second round of the 2017 season, after missing out in Australia a fortnight ago. The German driver said: “For me, the most important thing is that I can train intensively to ensure a 100% performance from my side as soon as possible. Hopefully this can be in Bahrain but if not, then we will take the time it needs until Russia to make sure I am completely ready.”

Although Wehrlein considers his neck injury to be healed, it’s thought that the lack of training and therefore strength he has in the neck would be an issue in the new style heavier and harder to manage F1 cars. That means it will be Antonio Giovinazzi back in the car for his second race weekend, after super subbing for Sauber in Melbourne. The Ferrari junior driver performed well during his first weekend, finishing 12th, with team boss Monisha Kaltenborn calling it a “very impressive performance. He showed his potential as well as what the car is capable of.”
