Gareth Jones On Speed #300 for 25 January 2017

Murray Walker Fantastic Absolutely Incredible

When Murray speaks
The world listens
Spot on
He sometimes misses
Always impressive
Incomprenhsible.
But I liked it best when Murray said:
Fantastic,
Yeah, I liked it best when Murray said:
Fantastic,
Yeah, I liked it best when Murray said:
Fantastic,
Absolutely, absolutely,
Absolutely incredible.

Fantastic, absolutely incredible
Fantastic, absolutely incredible
Fantastic, absolutely incredible
Faan, fan, faan-tastic,
Ab-so-lut-ely- incredible.

  When Murray speaks
Fantastic,
It don’t take him long
Fantastic,
To make a prophecy that turns out wrong
Oh Yeah
He makes mistakes and he’ll confess
Excuse me, while I interupt myself.

Fantastic, absolutely incredible
Fantastic, absolutely incredible
Fantastic, absolutely incredible
Oh my goodness, oh
Fantastic, absolutely incredible.

Murray speaks to the world (Oh yeah)
He reads the race for us.
Anything can happen in grand prix racing
And it usually does
And that’s

Fantastic, absolutely incredible
Fantastic, absolutely incredible
Fantastic, absolutely, absolutely
Absolutely incredible

Fantastic, absolutely incredible
Fantastic, absolutely incredible
Fantastic, absolutely incredible
Fan, fan, fan-tastic,
Ab-so-lut-ely- incredible.

Fantastic
His voice will last for evermore
Faantastic
If it doesn’t it oughta
His voice will last for evermore
Driver’s names he’ll sometimes slaughter
Murray Walker – muddly talker

His voice will last for ever more,
Fantastic
He’s fantastic, absolutely incredible
I want to say so much more than I have time for.
We’ll miss Murray and I quote
“I have to stop now, because I‘ve got a lump in my throat”.

January 25, 2017 Let’s Bring Juan Pablo Montoya Back To Formula 1

Let’s Bring Juan Pablo Montoya Back To Formula 1

Is this Formula 1’s busiest ‘off-season’ yet? There’s been an overdose of stories in this period: from Mercedes hiring Valtteri Bottas as Nico Rosberg’s replacement, Formula 1’s sale and Bernie Ecclestone being forcibly replaced to Juan Pablo Montoya’s Race of Champions victory on debut and Sebastian Vettel’s single-handled efforts winning Germany their 7th Race of Champion Nations Cup! (PS: we love the Juan ‘juan’ ROC jokes!)

In this week’s episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, we tell you why Formula 1 would never go the Race of Champions way, even if it is a fun format. We also decode why Max Verstappen might never participate in the ROC.

Pascal Wehrlein’s crash was heart-stopping! Does it worry Monisha (Kaltenborn) about her budgets for 2017? And did anyone notice the fan seated next to Wehrlein? Through the entire crash, this fan was on his (or her) phone shooting content! We’d love to see the fan’s footage. If you’ve not seen this picture yet, go over to our Facebook page.

Finally, Formula 1’s sale saw the unthinkable but the long overdue happen – Bernie Ecclestone’s dismissal. Much like Formula 1 hopes to benefit by bringing Ross Brawn back, we’re sure the sport can benefit much by bringing back the uber talented and mercurial Juan Pablo Montoya. Tune in!

January 23, 2017 F1 Debrief – Long live F1!

F1 Debrief – Long live F1!

Published by Christine Blachford

It’s the first Debrief of 2017, and what better topic to be discussing than the change of leadership for the commercial side of Formula One. Bernie Ecclestone is stepping aside at long last and letting someone else take control of the sport we know and mostly love.

On this show, we are joined by the marvellous Adam Barton to discuss all things Liberty, including the Snapchat generation, what the new bosses first job should be, and whether we’ll see a Ferrari reunion in the paddock.

We also talk about the opportunities for new circuit deals, whether Bernie leaves behind him a positive or negative legacy, and how much you can change, how quickly? Finally, we touch on F1’s problem of selling itself, and what age you need to be to lead from the top. Don’t forget to let us know your thoughts about Bernie’s exit, using the link below.

Get in touch!

As discussed
