April 29, 2016 Episode #37: Dre Against Humanity

Episode #37: Dre Against Humanity

This Podcast is a solid 8/10 on the Sass-O-Meter. Mostly because we talk extensively about Graham Rahal. But in this edition of #Motorsport101:

– We review IndyCar’s Grand Prix of Alabama, as Simon Pagenaud continues his ridiculous run of from with back-to-back wins, but it wasn’t without controversy (Again), as Graham Rahal went to war with the Frenchman, as well as Conor Daly for playing backmarker. Gotta get that Dale Coyne marketing money, right?

– We talk about the snoozefest of MotoGP in Jerez as Valentino Rossi destroyed the field to take his first win in 10 races, the over-saturation of Rossi media coverage, and THAT performance in Moto3 from Brad “Goddamn” Binder.

– We briefly talk about the Paris ePrix for Formula E, not so much for the boring GP, but more for the awful treatment that fans suffered on the day, and why the series seems to be showing more and more logistical cracks.

– We also debate a bunch of F1 topics, from Bernie Ecclestone doubling down on his comments about the potential of female drivers, could there be an eSports viability for the F1 games down the road, and how Vijay Mallya of Force India owes the country of India $1.3 BILLION DOLLARS, like something out of an Austin Powers movie.

That and a CRAZY Cards Against Humanity deck made by friend of the show Evan Byrne. WARNING – HIGHLY OFFENSIVE CONTENT: https://t.co/aUYtysqz0Y. But shoutout to him, we appreciate the effort.

Thanks for watching and check back next week when Lewis Hamilton inevitably dominates Russia.

April 26, 2016 Why Bernie Ecclestone Backs Donald Trump For President

Why Bernie Ecclestone Backs Donald Trump For President

We love Bernie Ecclestone, we do! F1’s CEO loves to make controversial statements and we love to extract our pound of humour from those controversies. In this week’s episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Mithila and Kunal tell you why Bernie Ecclestone backs Donald Trump for President. And if you’re a Hillary Clinton fan, we tell you why he wouldn’t back her candidature.

But this episode isn’t about Ecclestone alone, we talk about Filipinho Massa’s victory over our favourite, Daniel Ricciardo. Massa Jr.’s celebration skills must be applauded – mark of a true champion. Did Felipe hire Max Verstappen’s PR agency though to work on his son?

Should we undergo a rule change for 2017? Why is Mercedes resisting it and why are Red Bull Racing for it? Also, what should the rule changes be? We share our perspective and tell you why the teams will always differ in theirs from us fans.

Rio Haryanto seems to be running out of money. Is F1 in BIG trouble if pay drivers run out of money too? Btw, aren’t the Indonesian Govt. doing a little too much to fund his race seat? It’s a Manor, after all.

In this day and age of super hero movies, it comes as no surprise to us that Super Formula > Formula 1. And are the new-age ‘rocket science’ F1 cars no longer attractive for the upcoming drivers too?

Finally, will Hamilton win his third consecutive Russian Grand Prix OR will Rosberg leave Russia with 100 points? And apart from Vladmir Putin, who else will join the Mercedes drivers on the podium?

Tune in! (Season 2016, Episode 13)

April 22, 2016 Episode #36: Shanghai Noon

Episode #36: Shanghai Noon

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! It’s been that kind of week in Motorsport. Alternative titles included: “Handbags at 10 paces”, but I didn’t want to upset some female listeners. So, on this week’s show:

-We actually open the show with Jorge Lorenzo confirming he’s actually doing the damn thing and going to Ducati for 2017. We totally don’t repeat ourselves from last week. Honest.

– We talk A LOT about Formula 1 in China. Nico Rosberg’s 6th consecutive win, whether Hamilton’s already out of the running, the not-so-beeftastic Vettel vs Kyvat clash on Lap 1 and in Parc Ferme, and the ACTUAL beef between Romain Grosjean and Marcus Ericsson that wasn’t as well published.

-Outside of China itself, we talk about Rio Haryanto needing ANOTHER crowdfunder to keep his F1 dreams alive, the negativity coming out of the Sauber camp as momentum gathers regarding the possibility of a Alfa Romeo buyout Woof. Also, we mention how this was the least watched F1 race since Italy 2006 (Amazing given it was the race where Schumi announced his retirement.)

-We also talk IndyCar’s Grand Prix of Long Beach, and in its first Caution-free running since 1989, the pit-exit cut heard around the world as Simon Pagenaud won but in very controversial fashion. Was it the right decision? (Probably). We also mention the context of Simon’s first Penske win and what it means going forward for him, as well as the paddock complaints about the quality of the race, and whether we’re reaching critical mass on the state of the aerokit battle.

Check back in next week, we’ll be talking all about Bernie (again), MotoGP in Jerez, IndyCar in Alabama, eSports and inevitably, about 69 Nascar references. Enjoy!
